Men, there is something that all women do better than us…. they live longer!

Right now there is a 4.5 year difference in the life expectancy betweem men and women. The average life expectancy for a woman in the U.S. is 80.8 and for a man 75.6. The U.S. is home to 145.7 million adult men, and 12% of them report their health status as fair or poor. Indeed, 32% of men ages 20 and up are obese, and 31% in that same age group have hypertension. Among adult American men, heart disease, cancer, and accidents (unintentional injuries) are the three leading causes of death.

About half of men ages 18 to 50 don’t have a primary-care physician. 40% of men have never had their cholesterol tested. 70% have never had a prostate exam. Half of men studied had not seen a primary care doctor for a physical exam within the past year. 36% of men put off appointments until they were “really” sick. 78% of the men surveyed had a spouse who influenced their decision to go to the doctor.

6 Top Health Threats for Men

- Cardiovascular disease

- Lung cancer

- BPH & Prostate cancer

- Depression

- Erectile Dysfunction

- Loss of libido

- Diabesity

Jocelyne’s Note - It is a generality to say that men are not as aware or concerned with their health. We do have men that have come to see us first and then brought their wife for testing but it is generally the other way around. Women are the ones usually encouraging their husbands to come see us to be tested.

We do encourage the whole family to come and get tested, not just the husbands. The earlier someone gets on the road of restoring, improving or maintaining their health the more chance they have or living a long healthy life.
